Hey everyone, I could really use some advice here. So about two weeks ago, all my warning lights lit up on my 2019 CR-V (which has 77,000KM on it). I took it to the dealer, and after running an electronic diagnostic test, they told me the speed sensor was the issue. I got it replaced, which cost me quite a bit of $$.
Fast forward a week, and the same lights pop up again, this time with the engine light included (but the car is still driving fine). Took it back to the dealer, they kept it overnight, and now they’re telling me that the entire transmission needs to be replaced—quoted me over $15K + tax for the OEM part! They said they spoke with “techline” and confirmed the issue.
They recommended I reach out to Honda Canada to see if they can offer any assistance.
I’m pretty shocked because the car hasn’t been driven much (77,000KM in 5 years) and has had all its maintenance done by the dealer. Could this really be a full transmission issue? I’m at a complete loss for words .
Yikes, $15K is outrageous for a transmission replacement! I’ve heard of some CR-Vs having transmission problems, but at 77K KM, that’s really early. Definitely contact Honda Canada. They’ve helped people with goodwill repairs, especially for low-mileage cars. Might also be worth getting a second opinion from a trusted mechanic. Good luck!
Man, that sucks to hear! I’d be fuming if I were you. I second the idea of reaching out to Honda Canada, and don’t hesitate to escalate if they don’t help right away. Also, are you sure it’s the transmission? If the car is driving fine, I’d be skeptical about a full replacement being necessary. Dealers love to upsell those big repairs
I had a similar issue with my 2018 CR-V. They kept throwing different parts at the problem until they finally figured out it was an electrical issue. Definitely worth asking Honda Canada to step in and also maybe see if an independent transmission shop can check it out before committing to that huge expense.
That’s really strange. I’ve never heard of a transmission needing to be replaced at such low mileage unless there was some underlying defect. Definitely push Honda Canada to cover this under goodwill or find out if there’s a known issue with the 2019 models. Something doesn’t feel right here.
$15K?! That’s almost the cost of a used CR-V! I’d definitely call Honda Canada and maybe even look into a warranty extension. If you’ve been loyal to the dealer for maintenance, they might push Honda to cover part of the cost.
