How much are you all paying for insurance on a 2024 Honda CR-V? I’m 36, living in Virginia, with a clean driving record, and Geico quoted me $1,100 for six months. Why is it so expensive?
I feel your pain. I have teens on my policy, and it’s brutal.

Maybe trade the teens in for a new CR-V?

If only it were that easy.
You think that’s bad? Try insuring a car in Florida or Michigan.
If you’re a hybrid driver, consider signing up for your insurance company’s telematics program. We have a 2024 CR-V Hybrid and a 2017 CR-V EX, and we pay about $1,300 per year for both vehicles combined. We’re in Ohio, married, with high credit scores. Using Nationwide’s SmartRide program helps us save even more by rewarding careful driving.
@Poe
Be careful with those telematics programs. Hit the gas or brake too hard, and your premiums might skyrocket.

That’s true for some programs, but Nationwide’s SmartRide only offers discounts—it won’t increase your premiums. Once the discount locks in, I’m removing the app from my phone.
I pay about $100 a month for my 2024 CR-V Sport-L.

How did you manage that?

I have a clean record, no accidents or tickets, and my CR-V is actually cheaper to insure than my Civic was.
@Tian
What are your coverage limits?
I was paying $1,050 for six months in NYC when I got my car in July, but by the renewal in January, it jumped to $1,500 with Geico. I moved to New Jersey and got the same coverage for $780 for six months. Clean driving record since 2012, but location, theft rates, and credit score all affect your premium.
We’re paying about $90 a month for our new Honda. Shopping around and switching companies helped lower our rate.

Can you share how to shop for quotes?
I got quoted $1,109 with Allstate in Arizona for six months. No accidents or tickets on my record, so I guess that’s the going rate.
I pay $1,170 a year with NJM. No accidents or tickets.

Do you like NJM? I feel like Allstate is overcharging me—my premium jumped from $350 to $525 when I switched to a 2024 CR-V.
I’m paying $185 a month for full coverage and liability for my partner’s 2017 VW Golf. Bundling with our homeowner’s insurance helped.
I pay $82 a month with Progressive in Illinois for a 2024 CR-V EX-L AWD. I also did the snapshot program, which helped lower my premium.
