There’s a small pad on the center console that’s a representation of the screen. You touch the location on the touchpad that corresponds to the location of the screen. This is the way I heard it described when it came out. I’ve never used one.
I had the MDX and thought about upgrading to a newer MDX but the gas mileage was still the same and basically terrible. The CRV is rated much higher and the hybrid even more so, of course.
I looked at the RDX. I found that the tech felt ridiculously outdated when compared to the new 25 Honda CR-V. I didn’t like the touch pad at all and really liked the touchscreen that the CR-V had. I feel like Acura has been struggling on building awesome tech for a while now. I have no idea why they can’t get it right. Last year I bought a Lexus TX instead of an MDX for the same reason.

I came from an RDX… same size car so it fit perfectly, but CRV was much superior, plus $10k less… best car i have ever owned.
Which trim/model did you get in CRV?
Full blown… sport touring hybrid… my RDX was 2016 admittedly, but it was the first out there with tech that is standard now, still the ride got too bouncy (shocks were said fine), no CarPlay, v6 needed Prem gas, seats were comfy, enough room, and Acura had no Hybrid, but still would have not looked at Acura…
I went from an older base model MDX to a touring CRV. I really miss the feel of driving an Acura - it’s just more fun. But as others have said, the tech on Acuras has always felt more dated to me than the Hondas of the same model year (that might be remedied by now). The touring CRV has most of the same features that my Acura had and it’s been a great reliable car - my only real complaint is my personal preference for a faster engine.
If you want to buy an Acura go for it; it has certain things a luxury car should and better sound isolating. Everyone whining about premium fuel, it’s not a huge expense on a fill-up as long as you budget for it. My other car takes it, and the difference a week is like $10 to fill up over regular. Maintenance will be more also since it’s a turbo, so in the long run, it could fail and some of tubes or intercooler leaking. It’s a luxury branded car so it could have expenses like one. But the same could be said for the 1.5t. Totally up to you and your budget; we don’t know what that looks like.
I looked at the RDX initially but it needs a full redesign at this point. The infotainment system is an immediate deal breaker. Also, the fact it requires premium fuel and premium is over a $1/gallon more at Costco near me was also a deal breaker.
