Best SUV for Long Distance Road Trips?

Hey everyone, I’m in the market for a new (or used) car that can handle long highway road trips. I’ve been eyeing the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, but I’m also curious about the Corolla Cross and Subaru Forester. My top priorities are safety, reliability, and having enough trunk/backseat space for all the luggage I’ll be hauling. I’ve heard good things about the hybrid CR-V, but I’m not sure how fuel-efficient it’ll be with mostly highway driving at 65+ mph. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I’ve got a 2023 CR-V Hybrid, and it’s been amazing for road trips! Even with highway driving, I’m getting around 34-36 MPG. The backseat space is perfect for passengers, and the trunk easily handles all my luggage, camping gear, etc. Plus, Honda’s safety features are top-notch.

Honestly, the CR-V Hybrid is probably your best bet. It’s super reliable, has loads of trunk space, and the hybrid system helps with fuel savings, even on highways. It might not be as efficient as in the city, but it still beats most regular SUVs. Plus, Honda’s interiors are comfortable, and you’ll love the tech they offer!

I’ve driven both the CR-V and RAV4, and I gotta say, the CR-V is a smoother ride, especially on highways. You won’t notice too much loss in fuel efficiency at 65+ mph either. The interior is spacious enough to fit a whole family’s worth of luggage, and it’s super safe with Honda Sensing standard. Can’t go wrong with the CR-V Hybrid!

I second the CR-V Hybrid! I do a lot of long-distance driving for work, and I’ve been really impressed with how well it handles highway speeds while still being pretty fuel-efficient. The space is another bonus—it’s roomy without feeling too bulky.

If you’re focused on long trips and highway driving, the CR-V Hybrid should be at the top of your list. It’s comfortable for long hours behind the wheel, has a great safety rating, and the cargo space is very practical. Also, the hybrid powertrain gives decent fuel economy even when driving at higher speeds.
