Creaking Sound in Steering Wheel on 2024 CR-V – Normal?

I recently bought a 2024 Honda CR-V with just over 6,000 miles on it, and I’ve started noticing a creaking sound coming from the steering wheel whenever I turn left or right. It’s not super loud, but it’s definitely there and kind of annoying.

I took it to the dealership, but they told me this noise is normal for this model and that there’s nothing they can really do about it.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue with their CR-V? Should I push the dealership harder to fix it, or is this really something I just have to live with?

Not normal, had this issue and dealership replaced some wires to make it go away. If they continue with saying it’s normal, tell them to try another new CR-V and check that there is no such noise.

100% not normal. I’m at 13000 miles and have never heard noise from the steering wheel.

I wonder if that sound could be part of the steering wheel issue that is supposed to be fixed as part of the recall notice I just received.

No it’s not part of recall.

Mine’s doing this too. I thought the gearbox recall would fix it, but mine’s still doing it. Debating taking it to another dealership soon or waiting to ask when they do the fuel line recall.

It’s the clock spring! Just had mine fixed.

I had the same thing and it was a clock spring. I found the info searching on here and was pleasantly surprised that the dealership immediately agreed and fixed it. Keep pushing - it’s the clock spring.

Yep. Same issue and have been to the dealer 3 times to fix it. Clock spring, cable reel, etc. still makes the same creaking noise.

There is a recall out for steering components. But this shouldn’t be an issue. Definitely tell the dealer you want it fixed as that is not normal at all.

There was a recall on a stiff creaky steering issue.

Could be part of the recall situation.

Your dealership is on glue if they are saying that’s normal. My 50-year-old Chevy doesn’t even do that.
