I’m in the same situation with my 2023 Hybrid. They’re not terrible, but they look a bit off, almost like they were made with soft butter.
Mine are fading already.

I had bird droppings on that plastic piece, wiped it off with a wet cloth, and it scratched it. So cheap, right?

Same thing happened to me, it’s like it stained or something.
I have a 2010 CR-V with similar damage. Mine looks like bad paint, not burn marks.
Seems to me like it was parked somewhere where other glass structures were focusing sunlight onto it. They might have downgraded the quality of the panels, but that doesn’t explain why they were always prone to scratches and fading, but not melting even in desert sun. Should be an easy fix and hopefully covered under warranty, but it depends on the dealership’s attitude.
I also have a 2023 Hybrid. This hasn’t happened yet, but I’ve been unhappy with the overall cheap feel of the car. Really disappointed. This is my fourth Honda, and the quality seems to be dropping.

My 20-year-old Japanese car is still running strong. Someone even left a note on it asking to buy it recently.
I love it. It’s disappointing that newer models feel so poorly made.
I’ve only owned Hondas since 2011, trading them every three years or so. This year, I decided to get something else because I don’t feel they can be trusted anymore.

I’ve got a 2012 Honda and was thinking of upgrading, but all the odd problems I’ve heard about on the 2023 models make me hesitant.
This happened to my daughter’s 2024 Hybrid a couple of months after purchasing it. The dealership replaced it at no cost.
I had a 2011 model parked in my driveway daily, and something similar happened on one side. It wasn’t as severe, but I noticed it around 2021, so it wasn’t too obvious, though.
This is definitely from sunlight reflecting off a nearby window. We’ve seen similar issues on our 2017 Pilot, though it’s not as bad. The trim is warping, but it hasn’t bubbled. Our driveway is on the west side of our house, which gets heavy afternoon sunlight from the low-e windows. It’s better now that there’s a house blocking that sun, but it did happen…
Also, you might find those trim pieces at a reasonable price from an online OEM seller. I haven’t checked, partly because I’m concerned it could happen again, but I will look before selling.
Did you park by a concave window? There was a building in London that melted cars because of its shape.
I learned while living in San Francisco that some people break into cars by using torch lighters to shatter the windows without touching them. They heat one corner and the center, and five minutes later, the glass shatters. Maybe someone got a little carried away while trying to break in?
I’ve seen this on other cars too. It’s definitely from the reflection off something.
Where were you parked when this happened? It’s not unusual for buildings to concentrate sunlight and damage nearby vehicles. I remember something happening in London with a new building that led to some fixes for this reason.
If you’re up north, it’s too cold for this to be an issue now.
Looks like someone must have used a blowtorch, seriously
On another note, this is the only thing about the new CRVs that I really dislike. The matte plastic feels so cheap—wish they had polished it like other cars in the $40k range.
Looks like you parked in a spot with a major glare.
