What is the average monthly insurance cost for a new CR-V Hybrid? Is it possible to omit comprehensive and collision coverage to save a few hundred dollars?
EDIT: I understand the cost varies based on factors like location, driving history, and other personal details. I’m just looking for a range of numbers from your experiences, like a poll. I’ll still get an official quote, but this is for general insight. Thank you to everyone who responds!

Call your insurance provider and get a quote for a CR-V before buying. They can give you the exact 6-month cost. Everyone’s situation is different, so asking this question is not going to give you accurate results.

If you’re financing the vehicle, comprehensive and collision are usually required by the lender. Plus, it’s risky to skip them.

You can afford a $40k vehicle but not the insurance?

In Michigan, insurance can cost more than the car over its lifetime. Rates are brutal here.

Even $4,000 a year is less than a CR-V’s cost over six years.

@Reagan
True, but you pay for insurance over the car’s entire lifetime, not just during the loan period.

Insurance costs do go down as the car gets older and once it’s paid off.

That’s exactly what I’m getting at—some people are paying thousands per year.

I’m paying $1,200 a year with comprehensive and collision. It’s bundled with my spouse’s car and our home insurance, which probably helps.

That’s about what I pay too.

Have you considered Progressive? They often offer competitive rates.

That’s a low rate compared to L.A. What state are you in?

I’m in Ohio. Bundling with another vehicle and renters insurance probably helps.

No, I emailed my agent. I already had State Farm for my previous vehicle.

I went from a 2011 Subaru Forester XT to a 2022 CR-V Touring, and my insurance increased by about $400 annually, likely due to collision coverage.

That’s not too bad for a much newer car.
