I’m curious if this price is fair. I didn’t add anything extra and it’s my first time buying a car. Should I have negotiated more?
It really depends on your taxes and registration fees. For example, in South Carolina, taxes would be around $600, but in California, they could be as high as $2700. That makes a huge difference in the value of your deal.
@Florian
Sales tax is 3.75% and my document prep fee was $999. Does that help? The title fee was $16.50, and I got a loan for it, but we plan to pay it off in full before the end of the month with no penalty.
@Jody
Since it’s an AWD model, I’d say you did pretty well.
@Florian
Just a reminder… OTD means all taxes and fees should be included.

The original poster is asking if it’s a solid deal. Without knowing how much in taxes you’re paying, it’s tough to say. Yes, OTD includes those costs, but since this forum is international, you must compare costs while considering the different local tax rates, which can vary a lot.
I would take this deal. $36380 OTD should cover all taxes and registration. I got a Sport-L for $39k OTD.
Assuming that’s USD, I’d say that doesn’t sound like a good deal.

Oh no! What prices did you see that were better?

I’ve only seen info on here for context, but it looks like ~$37-38k OTD for a hybrid Sport-L is pretty standard. You mentioned being offered $36k for a base model?
@Perrin
Yes, the base model should be cheaper than the L. I’ve mostly seen prices for the Sport-L, so I really don’t have a clear idea of what a good price is for the base AWD. Seeing those other prices made me wonder if $36k was still too high.
@Jody
I wish I had more info, but 1-2k off a top trim doesn’t sound amazing. It’s fair, but not a great deal.

Where did I say it’s not included?
@Perrin
I guess I just assumed that. When you talked about $37-38k, it sounded pretty high if it didn’t cover taxes and registration. I looked into buying my Sport-L and the lowest I found was $38.5k; I ended up paying $39k. That base OTD seems reasonable.
