Hey everyone! I’m about to sign for my first CR-V, a 2025 EX, priced at $34k. After taxes and fees, it’s coming out to about $35,900. I’m a bit nervous because I had a bad experience with my Hyundai and don’t want to go through that again.
I’m financing through American Honda at 3.9% for 60 months, and I’m adding mechanical breakdown coverage to my auto insurance. Before I sign, I want to make sure I’m making the right decisions.
Are there any options I should avoid?
What warranties should I go for?
Anything else I need to be aware of?
Thanks for the help! Let me know if there’s anything you’d have done differently!
Congrats on the new CR-V! One thing I’d suggest is to skip any dealer add-ons like paint protection or window etching – those are just profit makers for them. Honda’s extended warranties can be worth it though, especially if you plan to keep the car long-term. Glad to hear you’re getting mechanical breakdown insurance; it’ll give you peace of mind.
Hey, I just signed for a CR-V too! Make sure you double-check the paperwork for hidden fees like ‘doc fees’ that can add up quickly. As for options, unless you’re in a super hot or cold area, don’t worry too much about the heated steering wheel or extra cooling systems. The standard features on the EX should cover you well.
Solid choice going with the CR-V! I’d say avoid the extended warranties from the dealership – they’re usually overpriced. If you want one, shop around for third-party ones later. Also, if you’re trading in the Hyundai, get that trade-in value in writing and make sure it matches what you were offered online or via appraisal.
Congrats! I’d skip any extra ‘anti-theft’ devices they offer – unless you’re really concerned about your area, those can be unnecessary. As for warranties, I went with the Honda Care extended warranty and haven’t regretted it. CR-Vs hold up well, but it’s nice to have a safety net just in case.
Hey, I’ve been driving my CR-V for a couple of years now – great car! One thing I’d recommend is to avoid the tire and wheel protection packages. Unless you’re driving on rough terrain a lot, it’s usually not worth the extra cost. Honda’s regular maintenance is pretty affordable, so you should be good without too many extras.
