Brake Hold Button Pushed Through – How Do I Fix This

So the brake hold button on my 2024 CR-V for some reason pushed through its slot when I pressed it, and now it won’t spring back up. Does anyone know how to get the plastic panel off or where to even start? Or if there’s a video, I can’t seem to find one.

That’s annoying! You can usually pop the plastic trim off with a flat tool like a plastic pry bar or even a butter knife (carefully). Start from the edges and gently pry it up. Once it’s loose, you should be able to access the button. Check out YouTube, there might be a video, but I’m pretty sure it’s straightforward!

Yeah, sounds like the button might just be misaligned or stuck. Like Amelia said… said, use a plastic pry tool to avoid scratches. I’ve taken off a similar panel in my old CR-V, and it’s not too hard. Just be gentle so you don’t break any clips. Good luck!

I’ve had a similar issue with my 2023 model, but it was the seat heater switch! Popped the trim off with a trim removal kit (you can get them cheap online). There are probably some clips holding it in, so be ready for a little resistance when you pry it. Once it’s off, you should see what’s wrong.

Check your manual – sometimes they have diagrams for how to remove interior panels. Also, if you’re not confident, maybe swing by a dealership or a mechanic. They could probably pop it off in 5 minutes. But if you’re handy, you got this!

I found a video that shows how to remove the center console trim on a 2023 CR-V, which might be similar to your 2024 model. Try searching for that and give it a shot. It’s likely just a matter of prying off the cover, and the button should be easy to realign or fix once you’re in there.
