CarPlay secondary display

I was driving my wife’s CR-V and noticed that the CarPlay turn directions show up on the instrument cluster. I had not noticed that before.

When I connect my phone to handsfree link, I get this with Google maps. It’s really nice. In my 2018.

That generation has the infotainment software from Android, so Google/Alphabet snuck things in like that. It doesn’t work for iOS devices connected, though.

It’s good to see that it’s now an option.

Learned that the hard way when I switched over to an iphone. It was a sad day lol

Yep, switched from my Galaxy to iPhone and now wife’s CRV will only show directions if you’re using apple maps. My Galaxy would show directions with either waze or Google maps.

I’m in Australia so Google maps and Waze are king here. Apple maps can still be hit and miss.

Yes I noticed that too. I would have been much happier with a temp gauge.

I have temperature, but not a compass. No idea why we need two speedometer gauges.

True it was unnecessary to make the speedo analog, the civic is full digital. It’s a different analog for miles and kms. Hence I guess the digital is useful.

Are you talking about cabin or outside temp? I meant the engine temp gauge. We don’t have one!

@Uma
I have the hybrid so I’m not sure what I would expect from an engine temperature gauge. I think putting tachometers on cars with automatic transmissions is kind of silly too.

I am disappointed that the Sport trim with the smaller screen doesn’t have this feature.

Apple maps does that. Not the good map.

Apple Maps is pretty good now.

Only apple, does not work with google maps on iOS.

Car goes forward when in drive.

Source?

Thanks for sharing this, I was wondering. I’m switching from a BMW to a CRV hybrid very soon. I’m glad it has this feature like the BMW.

Haven’t noticed it with Waze either so I’m guessing it’s limited to Apple Maps.

It works on the 2018 with a S24U and Waze; not sure about later ones.

Yeah that’s pretty cool! I think it’s a little unnecessary, but nice.
