CPO CR-V vs New - $2000 difference - Advice?

Hi, I’m looking for general feedback about buying a cert pre owned vs a new model. For reasons I cannot explain, there is only a $2000 price difference between a 2024 cert pre owned CR-V EX (~20K miles) and a new 2025 CR-V EX.

The main advantage I can see for the cert preowned is the extended warranty…but the car would be a year older and 20K miles in. What are your thoughts? I would have expected the cert preowned to be a few thousand dollars cheaper but the $2k difference makes me feel foolish to not consider buying a new model.

TIA!

Buy New if the 2k difference isn’t a substantial amount for you. 2k is not worth the potential headache of a used car. If it was like 5k+ then at that point it would make sense.

Is that difference on the negotiated price or sticker price?

Negotiated price. There’s a discount applied to get about $2k off the sticker price. It seems that a lot of dealers are taking off between $1-2k for the holidays to move inventory or meet quotas.

I would buy new, $2000 is not much if you can swing it.

CPO really means nothing. It’s used. $2k ain’t worth it IMO.

The CPO has about four times the profit than the new. The extended warranty is a near zero cost item for them as it is unlikely to be used.
Buy the new.

2k is absolutely worth the difference between a new and used vehicle.

It completely depends on the interest rate. At the end of 5 years of ownership, the newer vehicle will be worth 2k more so it’s a wash on price.
