First Recall on 2023 CR-V – Anyone Know What’s Up?

Hey CR-V fam,

Just got a recall notice in the mail today:

Recall: QJT 2023-25 CR-V EPS Gearbox Greasing Safety Recall

I’ve already scheduled my appointment at the Honda service center for this weekend, but I’m curious if anyone here knows what this recall is about?

This is my first recall, and I’m wondering if we have to pay for the service? I just had my complimentary oil change and tire rotation done a couple of months ago, so hoping it’s covered.

Thanks in advance for any info!

No worries, recalls are always covered by the manufacturer. You won’t have to pay a thing. I had a recall on my 2022 CR-V and Honda handled it all for free. Just make sure they grease whatever needs greasing!

Yup, as @PedroSilva said, recalls are fully taken care of. Sounds like it’s an issue with the electronic power steering (EPS) gearbox needing some greasing to prevent wear or failure. Good catch by Honda to address it early. Let us know how it goes at your appointment!

I got the same recall for my 2023 CR-V. Had mine serviced last week—took about an hour, and they didn’t charge me a dime. Grab a coffee and relax while they sort it out.

EPS greasing issue isn’t that uncommon in newer models. Better safe than sorry! It should be a quick fix. I had something similar on my older CR-V. Honda’s pretty solid about handling recalls quickly, so you’re in good hands.

No need to worry about the cost—recalls are always covered. You can even ask for a free inspection while you’re there if you’re concerned about anything else. Honda will usually do a courtesy check during recall appointments. Might as well take advantage of it!
