So, I don’t drive my 2011 CR-V much, but today I had to park on a hill for a funeral. I was only going 5mph for like 10 minutes and didn’t notice anything weird. But when I left and hit 10mph, I heard this banging noise and thought I had a flat tire. Since I live just a minute from the cemetery (still going slow at 5mph), I just drove it home. Any ideas on how to fix this or what might be stuck?
Hey! It could be something simple like a rock or debris stuck in the wheel or suspension. Maybe check around the wheel wells or undercarriage for any loose pieces. I had a similar issue once and a small rock was causing the banging noise.
I’d check the brake calipers. If you parked on a hill, sometimes they can seize or stick, especially if the car hasn’t been driven in a while. A quick inspection should help. Hope it’s something easy to fix!
Sounds like something might’ve shifted in the suspension. I had an old CR-V that made weird noises after sitting for a while, and it turned out to be a loose strut mount. Maybe have someone take a look at the shocks or struts?
If the car sat for a long time, it could just be a rusty brake rotor or stuck brake pads. Sometimes driving slow can make it worse because the rust doesn’t get a chance to wear off. Try driving it a bit more, maybe the noise will go away on its own after the brakes warm up.
Alot of good suggestions coming up… but if none of these work, maybe take it to a mechanic to do a quick check. Could be something minor, but you don’t want to take any chances with weird noises. Better safe than sorry!
