Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2022 CR-V Hybrid Touring, and I love it! Only thing I’m missing is a trailer hitch for my bike rack. Has anyone here had one installed on theirs? I’ve heard that putting on a hitch can mess with the kick sensor for the trunk—any truth to that? Also, I’m curious if using the bike rack might interfere with the rear parking assist sensor. Anyone got experience with this?
Hey! I had a hitch installed on my 2022 CR-V Hybrid, and yeah, the kick sensor does get a little finicky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t—especially if the bike rack is attached. I just ended up using the button on the trunk when the sensor acts up. Not a deal-breaker for me!
I’ve got the same car and installed a hitch with no problems. My kick sensor still works fine—maybe depends on the hitch brand? As for the parking assist, the sensors don’t seem to pick up the rack unless I’m super close to something. I’d say go for it!
I noticed that the rear sensors do get a bit confused when my bike rack is on. It sometimes beeps when I’m backing up, but you get used to it. Just don’t rely entirely on the sensors when the rack’s on there. Other than that, I’ve had no major issues.
I went with an aftermarket hitch and had no issues with the installation. Kick sensor still works for me most of the time, though occasionally it’s hit-or-miss. Haven’t noticed any interference with the rear parking sensors, even with the bike rack on. Definitely worth it!
Had mine done at a local shop, and the guy mentioned that improper installation can mess with the kick sensor. Make sure whoever installs it knows their stuff. Parking sensors have been fine on mine, but I keep my bike rack pretty centered to avoid any issues.
Had the same concern when I installed my hitch, but I tweaked the settings for the parking sensors to be a little less sensitive. That way, the bike rack doesn’t trigger constant warnings. As for the kick sensor, it’s like 70/30—it works most of the time!
