I recently acquired a 2024 CR-V Touring on June 10 and have already covered 9,000 km. I reside in Ontario, and my workplace is 100 kilometers away. Although I typically use public transportation (the closest station being 45 km away), there are instances when I must drive to work. From October 16, I will be commuting to the office four days a week, which will significantly increase my driving.
I’m wondering if driving 1,000 kilometers weekly, amounting to roughly 4,000 km monthly, would excessively strain the vehicle. Is there a general mileage limit I should be mindful of? I’m aware of the inevitable wear and tear, but are there other factors I should consider? I opted for the CR-V due to its reputation for reliability, yet the optimal monthly driving distance remains unclear to me.
A friend advised me to drive as much as needed, even up to 15,000 kilometers monthly, stating it’s inconsequential as long as regular oil changes and maintenance are observed.
Your insights on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. - This is a financed vehicle, not a lease.

I don’t get what ‘excessive strain’ is supposed to mean when it comes to cars. It’s not like it’s a horse that needs rest! A car just needs regular maintenance and repairs when needed. Of course, if you drive it a lot, you’ll probably need to do that more often compared to a car that’s barely used."

I’ve got 31k miles on my ‘24 Hybrid and brought it home July 31st last year. I make sure to drive it regularly and stay on top of maintenance—don’t skip those fluid changes! And don’t always rely on your car’s prompts for when to do things. I used to change the oil on my 1.5 every 5,000 miles, and after every 5 oil changes, I’d do the trans and rear diff (so, a 5:1 ratio). Once the warranty was up, I switched to Wix Gold filters and started using 5W30 oil. My 2018 had 160k miles when I traded it in, and as for this Hybrid, I’m hanging onto it until the battery warranty is up… then I’ll decide what’s next!

Not too sure about the newer CR-Vs with the turbo, but I drove my 1st gen CR-V past 200k miles, sold it, and it was still running strong . Honestly, no need to stress—you’ll be good!

I got my '23 Sport Hybrid in May 2023, and I’m already over 30k miles (almost 50k km). It’s been running perfectly—no issues at all. Just sticking to regular dealership maintenance as needed
