Is something wrong here?

Hey all,

I’m in the market for an RD1 CR-V, came across this one. Decent price, decent shape, decent mileage.

The only thing that is giving me a red flag is the circled portion in the photo. Is that something to worry about? What exactly am I looking at? Looks like the box is just hanging.

It’s supposed to be attached to that bracket to its upper right.

Should I be worried that it’s not attached? Or is it something that can be popped off say to clean the bay like it seems this owner did?

@Nuri
IIRC, it just snaps on, unless the tab on the box is damaged.

Thank you!

@Nuri
Mud slides out now and then; I just slide it back onto the bracket. With vibration, they slowly work themselves loose over time; they’re not exactly secured on very well.

It is the vacuum air tank. Has tabs on the side that just slide it into place. Super convenient to remove/set. Removing it makes access to those driver damper bolts convenient for example.

Awesome! I didn’t know what to google to figure out what it was. All my keywords kept resulting in the fuse box :joy:.

@Nuri
My pleasure!

Hopefully, this link works. Recorded a quick video showing it (and a close-up pic of the tank).

Imgur wasn’t working for me for some reason.

@Fenix
That’s actually really helpful. Thanks!

Should check if it’s been in an accident and repaired.

Yeah, I think that’s my biggest worry. He has the plates blacked out in his photos so I can’t run a Carfax.

Ask for VIN. Typically, you can see the VIN inside driver side windshield at the bottom where inspection tags are located on the outside.

@Florian
Yeah, I have my buddy contacting him for that since he’ll be the one picking it up for me if it’s good.
